All resumes are purposed to tell your next employer your personality and skills you may offer to the company or institution in question. People use their resumes to indicate that they have incredible skills and are qualified for a particular job opening. If you've been out of school just recently and lack enough experience, highlight your academic and professional skills. Well, key elements must be included for it is important information that employers are keen to look at. Therefore, to avoid forgetting the details, read the guide to note them.

Personal Details

Personal information is the first key element you should not forget. In contains a name, an email address, a telephone number, and physical address. However, you can omit the permanent address if the resume is sent via a web portal.


In brief, write about three to four sentences summarizing the purpose of your job application. Tailor the statement to meet the specifications of the job opening and also applicable. The goal statement should include key skills applicable to the job opening. For instance, you can say;

I am seeking a position to put my skills to great use and meet my potential fully in proposal writing, presentation, and research.


The education section in the resume highlights your academic qualifications. For any employer to consider you as a potential employee, they first have to check your academic levels and perform before proceeding to any other step. Therefore, the education element should not miss in your CV. The education part should include the name of high school, the state or city, graduation date, courses completed (related to the job opening), and certificates acquired.

Skill, Work, and Relevant Experience

The work experience section contains all information about work areas that you've done for years and gained sufficient experience. They should be relatable to the job you're applying for. It can be summer jobs, voluntary jobs, or even related internships. Also include the role titles, the specific companies or institutions, the state, dates, and summary of duties.

Achievements and Honors

These are the achievements you made throughout your years of working precisely in the professional related jobs. The achievement mentioned should be in line with the job opening. In addition, you should include any honors bestowed on you during that time and note the dates achieved and where. The name of your award and the institution and for what role is to be included as well.

Interests and Hobbies

The interests and hobbies part of a good CV. There are times they may not be necessary, but such tells the employer some things about you. You can say athletics to indicate that you are physically fit and flexible. If you say watching and the job specification is on surveys and research, the interest and the position will contradict, affecting the resume. Even so, as you mention your interest, includes their dates, work, and institution. For example;
